Fattoria Poggerino is located in Radda in Chianti, a cool region in the beautiful Chianti Classico region between Firenze and Siena. It is a family estate with a total of 12 ha of vineyards. Of those 12 ha, 11 ha are planted with the Sangiovese grape with south exposure and 1 ha with Merlot with west exposure. The vineyards lie at an altitude of 350 to 500 metres.
Steep slopes and clay alternating with rocky soil do not make it easy for Piero but he succeeds in making fantastic wines in a completely natural way. His Chianti Classico, made from 100% Sangiovese, is every year a top seller in its category. The 2010 was listed by Wine Spectator in 2013 as number 18 in their top 100 list that year. The Riserva Bugialla has also been awarded many times with 3 bicchieri and 5 grappoli.
Poggerino also produces a very interesting Primamateria IGP wine which is a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot.
