Rocco Pasetti is a respected name in the Abruzzo wine world. In 2001, he founded the Contesa winery in Collecorvino, among the hills near Pescara. Today, he works alongside his sons Franco and Ugo.
The estate’s approximately 45 hectares of vineyards lie around 250 metres above sea level, between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennines. Clay-limestone soils and cooling sea breezes give the wines their distinctive freshness, minerality and Mediterranean character.
Contesa produces expressive wines from native grape varieties. Pecorino and Trebbiano stand out for their fresh, mineral and gently saline style. Montepulciano d’Abruzzo forms the basis of a varied red wine range, from smooth and fruit-driven to powerful, complex wines with excellent ageing potential.
