With Primamateria 2022, Poggerino presents a refined interpretation of Tuscany beyond the Chianti Classico appellation. This Toscana IGT blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Merlot, combining the freshness and elegance of Sangiovese with the richness and texture of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The varieties are vinified separately before spending 18 months in tonneaux, followed by extended bottle ageing.
Bright ruby red in colour, the wine offers aromas of ripe cherries, plums, leather, vanilla, dried fruit and subtle spices. The palate is rich and layered, balancing vibrant acidity with silky tannins and a long, elegant finish.
A versatile Tuscan red that pairs beautifully with grilled meats, game, lamb and mature cheeses, while also being a pleasure to enjoy on its own.

The 2022 Primamateria is Poggerino’s Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Sangiovese blend. Dark, pliant and so expressive, Primamateria is another superb wine it this range. Plush contours wrap around a core of black cherry, plum, new leather, licorice, incense, mocha and dried flowers. The 2022 spent two years in 500-liter barrels, 25% new.
