Abruzzo is a rugged region in the centre of Italy. Abruzzo is situated between the Adriatic sea to the east, and the Apennines which stand out against the surrounding landscape. Most of the wine regions are situated in the coastal area on the slopes that lead to the Apennines. It is a fairly important wine region considering the amount of wine that is produced annually eventhough it only counts a couple of and 2 important grape varieties: the trebbiano for the white wines and the montepulciano for the red wines. A very interesting grape wich needs mentioning is the pecorino which produces wines with a mineral note and that a savory flavour. The montepulciano grape gives fruity, soft, well-balanced wines while the trebbiano gives fresh and fruity wines with pleasant acid structure. Excellent price/quality ratio.
