Campania is a region in southern Italy and Napels is the regional capital. The Amalfi Coast is a popular tourist destination known for its enchanting beaches, the islands Capri and Ischia with its numerous tempels and the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum. We can find the perfect mix in Campania to grow wines: the soil constists of clay, limestone and is volcanic, hills with abundant sunshine throughout the year and interesting local grape varieties such as the Aglianico used in red wines and the Fiano and Greco in white wines.  Campania’s annual production is 2.2 hl out of an area of 48000 ha. In the closing decade of the last century the quality improved enormously. The red wines of the Aglianico-grape are rich and powerful and need a couple of years to mature in the wine cellars to soften the tannic grip of the wine. They can therefore be stored and aged for many years. The most popular being the Taurasi, it is nicknamed “nebbiolo of the south”. The white wines of Fiano en Greco are really aromatic, full bodied, but always have a pleasant fresh touch.
