The Chianti Classico Nuovo is a 100% Sangiovese from an old vineyard that matures for 12 months in a cement barrel (650 l) in the shape of an egg. Hence the twist with the name (n)uovo (uovo means egg in Italian). The Nuovo is a full, complex Chianti Classico with juicy tannins and bright acids. An absolute top wine. Combine with grilled meat, game or mature cheeses.

The 2021 Chianti Classico Nuovo, 100% Sangiovese, is a rich, powerful wine that is going to need a number of years to be at its best. Dark red-toned fruit, spice, new leather, menthol, tobacco and licorice are all amplified. The 2021 was aged entirely in cement, but even though there is no wood here, there is plenty of structure. This is such a distinct wine. The purity of the fruit is just striking.
