Puglia is a long stretch (350km long) of fertile soil along the Adriatic coast in the heel of Italy’s boot. The Mediterranean climate together withpredominantly calcareous subsoil and an iron surface layer are ideal for winegrowing activities. In the south, on the Salento plateau, and west of Salento (Gioia del Colle en Manduria) is where Puglia’s best wines, namely the Negroamaro and the Primitivo, are produced. Beautiful white aromatic wines made from the local Minutolo ( variant of the Fiano ).
