The Toscana IGP Rosso Primamateria is a blend of 50% Sangiovese and 50% Merlot. The vineyards are about 20 years old. The grapes are vinified separately. The wine spent two years in 400-liter barrels. Spice, tobacco and leather meld into a core of dark-toned fruit. Potent and vivid, with notable energy driving through it. Primamateria is another highly distinctive wine in this range from Poggerino.
