Barbera d’Alba Rorreto
Barbera d’Alba Rorreto
Orlando Abrigo’s Rorreto 2022 is a characterful Barbera from Treiso, in the heart of Piedmont’s Langhe hills. Made entirely from Barbera, it combines generous fruit with the lively freshness that makes this grape so appealing. The southwest-facing vineyard sits at around 300 metres above sea level, with vines planted in 1965.
Deep ruby red in the glass, it reveals ripe cherry and plum aromas, complemented by violets and spicy nuances. The palate is full, juicy and warming, with supple tannins and refreshing acidity bringing everything into balance. A persistent finish rounds out the experience.
Around ten to twelve months of ageing in barriques and larger oak barrels add depth to the wine. The oak supports its structure and contributes a subtle spicy character.
A versatile wine for the table, Rorreto pairs beautifully with pasta served with ragù, roast meat or a slow-cooked stew. Mature cheeses also make an excellent match for its fruity intensity. We suggest serving it at around 16–18°C and allowing a little air to help its aromas open.
