The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino is dark and earthy in the glass, smoldering up with a blend of flowery underbrush, crushed rocks, wilted violets and cedar spice box aromas. It smooths over the palate with tipe, opulent red fruits balanced by cooling acidity and mineral notes. While lightly tannic and potent, the 2021 finishes remarkably fresh, leaving salted licorice hints to linger. Open this ahead of time to allow its aromatic complexities to unfold fully.
