Wijnbouwers Moscato Canello

We hereby present the newest DOCG from Piedmont.

In 2001, a selection of wine growers from the Canelli region founded the Associazione Produttori Moscato Canelli. The aim was to position Moscato Canelli as a superior version of the Moscato d’Asti DOCG. This spring this finally resulted in the approval of a new DOCG for the Canelli subzone. Now we just have to wait for the EU approval in Brussels.

The Moscato d’Asti DOCG Canelli is a lightly sparkling white wine with a low alcohol content of about 5.5%. The light sparkling character is obtained by letting the fermentation continue in closed pressure tanks which releases carbon dioxide. By stopping the fermentation before all the sugars have been converted into alcohol, the alcohol percentage remains low. The result is a sweet, sparkling, fruity wine that still comes across as fresh thanks to its lively acidity. It is an ideal companion for desserts or to enjoy on a summer terrace.

Herewith the new 2020 vintage of the Moscato d’Asti DOCG Canelli by L’Armangia.
