Wijngaarden Tenuta di Sesta

We are pleased to introduce Tenuta di Sesta as the latest addition to our portfolio.

In 1966 the first bottles of Brunello of Tenuta di Sesta were produced by Giuseppe Ciacci, father of the current owner Giovanni Ciacci. At that time there were only twelve bottlers and for this reason Tenuta di Sesta is recognised as one of the historic estates in the territory of Montalcino.

The wine estate has a total of about 200 hectares of agricultural land of which 30 hectares are used for wine growing. The vineyards are located south of Montalcino at an altitude of 200 to 400 metres. There, the Sangiovese grape finds the ideal soil to make high quality wines.

From the fruity entry-level wine Toscana Rosso Sangiovese 2020 over the elegant Rosso di Montalcino 2020 to the 2 Brunello wines: Brunello di Montalcino 2017 and the Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Duelecci Est 2016.

The latter is the absolute top wine of the domain coming from the Duelecci vineyard. Depending on the year, either the east side (EST) or the west side (OVEST) of the vineyard is used here.

The particularly gravelly soil on the east side is suitable for cooler summers, while the richer soil on the west side brings out its best qualities during warmer summers. In 2016, the east side was used, hence Deulecci Est.
