Orlando Abrigo’s Valmaggiore 2022 combines Nebbiolo’s refinement with the character of a distinctive vineyard in the Roero. Awarded Tre Bicchieri, Gambero Rosso’s highest distinction, in the Vini d’Italia 2026 guide, this red wine brings together expressive fruit, freshness and structure.

The grapes grow on steep, sandy slopes in Vezza d’Alba. The vineyards are worked entirely by hand, hence the name ‘Tutto a Mano’. Following fermentation, the wine matures in large oak casks, developing further before bottling.

A bright ruby colour introduces a bouquet of redcurrants and wild strawberries, complemented by violets, a refreshing hint of mint and subtle spice. The palate is intense and lively, with firm tannins and a savoury finish. Its combination of aromatic detail and clearly defined structure makes it an appealing choice for lovers of characterful Nebbiolo.

At the table, try it with pasta served with lamb ragù, roast meat or a mushroom risotto. We suggest serving it at around 18°C in a generously sized glass and allowing a little air to help the bouquet unfold.
